TechTown Design System
WHAT IS A UX DESIGN SYSTEM?
A UX design system is a set of standards to manage the design of websites. It also serves as a guideline for brand image unique to a business. It serves as a library of visual style, components, and other site functions. In 2022 we proposed to establish a design system for the websites of Tech Town. [still in process of editing]
WHAT IS DOCUMENTED?
Here, you will find a library of documented work by previous students who had researched and worked with the businesses to form their identity foundations. There are elements such as usability-test reports, wireframes and prototypes, site maps, personas, and flowcharts, available to incoming UX managers. [still in process of editing]
WHO IS IT FOR?
The design system is for students, developers, designers, and more! It is the single source of truth that will allow teams to design and develop a product in the best way possible.
HOW IS IT DIFFERENT FROM A STYLE GUIDE?
A style guide is part of a design system. The design system is the complete set of design standards, while the style guide is only a piece of this. The style guide is the documentation that describes different components of the design system.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS?
There are many benefits to a design system, including:
-
Ensures consistency across all aspects of the company
-
Saves time in the long run; it allows no room for errors once the standards are in place
-
Sustainable design that follows compliance and accessibility standards
